Author name: Hayden Veil

In an earlier incarnation, Hayden Veil enjoyed a successful career in software engineering, writing late-night poetry in pursuit of sanity. On 2 February 2020, the world of Hayden Veil changed: Ghosts became real and with its soul laid bare there was no turning back from the perpetual path of poetry.

– @circle-no10 – try and try again

Yet to clear the weeds / from last year’s growing / automatic feeding / drip drip each morning / turning ephemeral into perennial beauty / left untouched / nature takes over

“life’s better in colour”

– @circle-no10

Scones Vs. Trifle: fight!

baking scones at midnight / manic warning signs alight / clotted cream a ghost this hour / spraying whipped a joke of fire / jam on sweetened bread it is / unimpressive to the touch / brittle nonsense if you ask / oh trifle I wish that you I forged

if you were real
we would be having a โ€œconversationโ€
thusly
imperviously
slyly
not just me talking
to a mirror

the turning point / in isolation / trifling // the turning point / with momentum / efficacious // the turning point / with bluff abaft / my destination

two halves does not make a whole

I am one half illness / a bird soaring the skies / I am one half illness / a grain of beach warm sand / I am whole / in pieces / I am broken / glue seeping / I am / the unsolvable equation
