A Waltz for One
I dance an unwelcome waltz
With daemons bent on purging
All that which once was my life,
Now merely fading memories
Among their dust thrown up.
I hoover and I sweep their hell
From the sanded floors far below,
My shadows flicker as the tapers
Take on a life unworthy.
I paint their town in colours befitting
The foul and the rogue rascals
You once named is passing.
I wash my hand of all your sins,
Betraying the betrayed
As a way out of destitution.
